Sign Language Jewellery

Sitting on a bus one day, I observed 2 children speaking German to each other. Suddenly, their mother father turned to them and spoke with them in Spanish, followed by their mother, with whom they interacted using sign language. This, in all my years working as a bilingual educator, was the most beautiful display of bilingualism I have ever observed.

This interaction as well as my years of working overseas in Bilingual classrooms has led to a genuine interest in the use of sign language. It is important for deaf people to have a voice and a way of expressing themselves. This is what brought me to design a Sign Language collection

These sign language jewellery pieces are made to order and can be used to express any word you desire - from names to popular buzz words, swear words to forms of adoration.  These sign language symbols are based on the American Sign Language system as it utilises a single handed sign for each letter of the alphabet. What you choose to write is up to you, but the power of the hand signal message is strong!

All necklaces & brooches in this collection are made to order, so pieces can take up to a week before they are ready to ship. Select the shape of your piece as well as the word you want written (3 to 7 letters). Due to the sale, only the words are customisable - Arty reserves the right to select the colours.
