Whale of a Time
During a visit to the Húsavík Whale Museum in Iceland, I was confronted by the skeleton of a whale, lying on the floor of the museum for patrons to walk right up beside. The sheer size of it was somewhat frightening for me, and I couldn't help but think that these 'gentle giants', beautiful as they may be, would not be my choice of swimming buddy.
That being said, I think they are incredible to look at. I created this piece by focusing on finding special acrylic tones. And for the necklace version, I have hand poured the resin backing.
The brooch measures 9.3 x 5.3 cm and is mounted on a 3cm horizontal rolling catch brooch pin. The necklace measures 9.3 x 6.9 cm and hangs on a ??? nickel free silver plated chain with a parrot clasp.
** Please note that necklace backing is made of hand poured resin, therefore each and every disc will be slightly different and unique.
